Spring Into the Arts 2023

April 01, 2023

I am busy framing, adding wires to gallery wrapped canvas, printing cards and labels, organizing everything I need for a show at the end of April. This will be my third year participating in the Clark County Spring Into the Arts studio tour. The tour, which features painters, potters, jewelers, weavers, woodworkers, and more, is one of the first of the year, a welcome sign that winter is finally over and spring has arrived.

This year I will be at the Owen Old School in Owen, Wisconsin. The show is April 28-30.

Pink Clematis, Oil on gallery wrapped canvas, 20” x 16”

This painting is just finished and I want to tell you: pinks are hard! The photograph doesn’t do justice to the color work in this painting, the real thing is much more vibrant and nuanced.

My notecards have proved popular so I recently acquired the paper to print smaller cards. In addition to the 5”x7” cards I can now print 4.25” x 5.5” cards. All the cards are on beautiful paper from Red River Paper and all feature my original art- either photography, colored pencil or paintings. For more information or to order notecards please see the Notecards menu option on this website.

Happy Sunshine

January 26, 2023

I haven’t seen the sun out my window for days and days but in my studio it is making an appearance. Here are two recently completed paintings of happy sunshine for you.

Flowers From Summer Gardens

November 09, 2022

Summer is over but I am still painting flowers from the many photos that I have. I photographed this peony in Boerner Botanical Garden in 2021. I wanted to go big, so this painting is 20” square. It is on wrapped canvas (the canvas wraps around the sides) and I painted the sides so there is no need for a frame.

This elegant Echinacea is one of the many varieties in the award-winning garden of a friend.
